Shorty, the description of my problem is:

I run kubuntu gutsy and the game client is from the kubuntu repo.

I open the game, i put user+passw and the server is "server.themanaworld.org".
Than i connect to teh server and it appear a screen where i have to chose the server (is just one and is "The Mana World").
Here i try to connect to this one and it says "trying to connect to character server" and the progress-bar run and run and run again many times, but nothing happens.
Then, after a minute or something like, he says that the connection failed.

I found on another thread that the game needs the port 6901 to run and i opened it but i'm not sure is the right one.
Can you also please tell me wich port i've to open?

There should be a (hidden) directory in your home directory called ".tmw". Enter it, and then open the file config.xml. Scroll down and look for a value called "port", and make sure its value is set to 6901.

TMW runs on ports 6901, 5122, 6122.
