I am trying to play TMW, but the game crashes and goes back to the desktop on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy. What's wrong with the server?

That's probably not a server issue.

Also know that if you are running version 23 which is the version you get when you do through synaptic, you will crash anytime someone with certain hairstyles walks into view. (I know bald is one of the hairstyles that will crash ver 23 players) also you can get ver 24 to work but you have to go through a lot of hoo haa to get all the dependencies installed / updated
