Sound and linux progress

Is the sound supposed to work under linux? I'm a gentoo user... can anyone verify that it works?

sound works perfectly
but i supose game not contain sounds files yet. I find only ~/data/sound/wavs/level.ogg <- and it work.

well yeah we dun have that much sounds
but i reported some problems with sound ..
espeacially esd was crap but using alsa fixed it
some other users have problems when they have sound enabled too
i think arts doesnt like tmw :/

Yeah, artsd doesn't like anything. If in KDE 4.0 it really gets dropped, you're all invited to the "arts is dead" party I throw.

I thought there was no sound at all
when should the sound be heard?
