I've been fighting monster, such as sea slimes to get pearls, and my HP will drop 40 points for no reason. It doesn't do it every time, but enough to where it is gets to be really annoying. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this suppose to happen?

Older clients don't show criticals. 0.0.26 does. 0.0.25 might, I can't remember right now.

I added a particle effect to the dev version to make it more visible that something special happened on a critical hit.
