[new char creation] Name already occupied?

Post by Jurgi »

Is there any error message on create new character window, when typed name is occupied? I believe it's not.
Yesterday my brother was trying to create his first character and after clicking OK nothing happened. My thought was: "lagging", after very long waiting (about a quarter) "sth crashed", but after several tries I was annoyed. Changing the name fixed problem.
Was this due to already taken name? The character nick we were trying to register was "Jurgen" (the same account name worked).

Happened on latest Win version (from the official site) on XP-SP2.

It's always like that... you can't do anything about it. Actually in all the characters I've made, you wait for ages, then hit 'Cancel', then scroll through your characters over and over and over... eventually it will be there.

EDIT: I forgot my squiggly line!

~and now you have to put up with the wrong name...

Hm, each time I created new character it took a second. With only exception for this one name. We have canceled and retried many times. We have even paused and created new one on my account (with no problems) and the tried again. After changing the name everything went okay, that's why I believe, it was due to name (incorrect, taken, whatever).

I'll see about supporting that error message in the next client release.

The next client release will properly show the error message. It won't say the exact error (as the client isn't told).
