Broken Registration Interface?

For some reason, I can't seem to register an account ID; I just get an Unregistered ID error when I click the register button from the registration form... Isn't that sort of the point though: I'm trying to register because I don't have an account yet!!!
I don't know is this really makes any difference, but I'm using the portable version of 0.29.1 from a WinXP machine; and I've already added the program to my firewall's exception list, so that can't possibly be the problem.
