Very nice cliffs, just needs some grid-killing. :)

Didn't Len once make some rather nice sand tiles?

About the grid-killing, we're working on variation tiles which should help a lot there.

Len actually did some very nice tiles that i intended to use for this tileset :

Adarias had also made some nice desert ground tiles :

I also had a try myself, just for practice (i know, it sucks) :

We'll probably end up using Len's tiles.

I'm not so sure about the style of shading on the rocks but I guess it works cause it looks damn good IMO :) keep it up. maybe make a more directional cliff this would also be good for mappers. (In hopes that they wont make straight lines of the same tile in there map anyways.)

@Arikel: Image

I think your work have really good potential, I can tell you all of these can be used but pick one and finish it, borders, transitions all the variations needed, also none of the examples above have proper light they have north west sunlight and it should be south west, I would try flipping 45 deg to the left in some of them, may be that works.
I like 3,4 and 5 as my favorites.

Reid I kinda just started to do that once I seen those tiles.
And those sand textures would be useful. There's some sand formation that need to be recreated for the new style sand to provide a direct paste over of the old set.

I was just over that and started on the slope sand banks in the new style.
There's an area that was a ripple pattern that needs to be recreated.
