The art repo received no love since last october, would be nice if someone could update with the new stuff, I guess most of the old stuff is there - at least I found everything I could remember, except the SoM-like tiles by the german guy maybe...
I can't keep track of the graphical stuff anymore, so someone else would have to do it
Preservation is important, most links of my collection thread from 2008 are broken/empty nowadays :/
Updating the art repo
Re: Updating the art repo
Hi,
What should go in the art repo?
This should be documented also. Thinking about it quicky, I guess pateame's art and gimp/photoshop files deserve a place in there.
I wonder how the content team would like to see the point dealt.
Best regards.

Re: Updating the art repo
Well I would place everything in there what was made for TMW, including unfinished pieces. But that is up to the artist I guess.
Re: Updating the art repo
Personally I doubt that GIT is the best tool for this. While GIT can handle large binary files, it isn't made for this and thus handles them very inefficiently.

- former TMW Pixel artist
- NOT a game master
Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
Re: Updating the art repo
Well it is hosted independently, has a history and all other attempts for a central art repo that continues to live over the ages died!
See the galery, nothing:

Irus old repo: not existant anymore
Who nows how long the free imagehoster will preserve the old graphics, most of the old imageshack posts in the older threads are already gone!
GIT is not the ideal solution, but the best tool we have.

Re: Updating the art repo
I agree with Crush that Git is a poor choice for the art repo.
Platyna told me this could be hosted on platinum, a few years ago.
It is my guess freeyorp would have to install *it at the present time.
This was discussed on IRC #tmw-dev but no consensus was reached on software.
This is worth discussing until we decide upon the software.
I can not remember if it was peavey or jaxad leading development at that time.
I believe this is still a very good idea.
At one point I began saving everything to CD's to begin doing this, but this stalled as progress toward implementation or lack of interest stalled, still I do have a bunch and I bet others do also...
Sorting the images by category is a bit harder.

map tiles
sprite sets

So much has been lost already, Images not loaded as forum attachments continue to vanish.
