That's not what I meant, I was talking about a previous case.

I challenge someone to conceptualize a pyramid, which does not bring the Hollywoodian visions of Egyptian or South American tombs / houses of worship into mind. Then we can have pyramids.

It is a good idea but i am afraid it would be impossible to make a tileset for it. The problem are the large circles. When you want circular objects in a tileset you need a tile for every circle segment for every desired size. When you want a cylinder pyramid that fills a whole map almost every tile of the map would have to be unique.

But how about a six or eight sided pyramid? that would be possible. i made some floor tiles a while ago that would be perfect for the interior of a six sided pyramid:

Our buildings all have a very ancient civilization feel to them already. Would i be a bother to suggest making Crush's eight-sided pyramid and not do the Mayan one?

I'm against it, and actually at first sight I thought you were joking because there are reasons on this same very thread why not to copy existing architecture wich I agree with. I can't deny you the right to discuss that reasoning and prove your point of view but please don't repeat the same pattern suggesting that when the tetahedric pyramid has been sort of discarded.

Ow, I've read the first half of the first page and on another day the second page. Sorry :-/

What I wanted to say with the maya temple is that it's only 4-sided, but it has more than one height level - like a combination of a pyramid and the sketch yosuhara posted on page 2. The pyramid in the sketch is round, then you would have the problem Crush mentioned (need a tile for every segment of the circle).

To use the 4-sided temple, you don't have the problem of needing one tile for every round fragment. And that's the reason why the Maya used 4-sided temples, too. ;-)

I hope that it was a bit clearer now...

perhaps it could look a little bit like this? that blue thing on the top could be some sort of magic crystal... (don't take it too seriously it's just a childish sketch :) )
base version with some extra shading here

and this is "updated" version :D

I like the idea of the crystal on the top.
