[WIP] Rough gems for magic components.

Post by mistergrey »

I am working on a few spells, and they will require certain stones as components, similar to lifestones. Rather than copy and recolor that, or the dark crystal, I tried a rough sketch of a few differently shaped stones. I'm sure they need work, but I can't seem to contact any artist lately, so I would appreciate any feedback, suggestions, etc.

*My apologies for leaving a color pallet in one image, I will post it without that in a while.*

Nice gem, Chef :).

So, after getting some very helpful feedback on opengameart.org, I edited one of my gems. Thanks to redshrike for editing it as an example, which I based my edit heavily on.

Well, in total, I've edited all 3 of the original gems I posted. One I was mostly satisfied with from the start, and changed very little, and one I changed to be more of a faceted stone with a symbol, since only 2 gems are needed for the spell components :). Again, feedback is appreciated ;).

I hope i can also do feedback

Nice stones. :D

Only one thing i see - your speedstone (middle one) is now shown accurate from above but the edges have not the same length. :?

By the way with the names - if you ask me - the middle stone looks as more like a shield as the "shieldstone"
And the "shieldstone" looks more like a speed one

They look great grey, nice work. I noticed your getting used to using that texture technique. love it ;)

These ones are noted as GPLv3 on opengameart.

So I did. I'm still totally blank about what licenses are which, so I chose the more recent GPL license when given a choice. I've asked redshrike if I can use the one I based on his edit, under GPLv2 (or whatever), now I play the waiting game...

As it turns out, I never used redshrike's edit itself, but modified mine based on his, and used somewhat different shading and texture on my version. Several people, including users on opengameart.org have said that this means the work is mine, and I'm free to license it as I wish (though of course, I'm sure to acknowledge redshrike for the help and advice!). If I am wrong about this feel free to inform me, heh.

Just taking advice from someone usually doesn't make that person eligible for claiming copyright.

Otherwise I would like to claim copyright of Windows 8, because I reported a bug in the developer preview and advised Microsoft to fix it, which they did.

Just to show some progress. I didn't change the other stone so much, so I did not include it here.

I was always a little into the Elder Futhark runes, and that one seemed a bit fitting considering the planned use of the tablet :P.
