After some tweaking, I found that if I combined the two hats together, it created a pretty nice effect, so I ran with it. I still have the dead frame to finish, but I want your guys' opinions before I continue.
oO great

At vxd's nudging, I redid the template. Now it is in the accepted 40 pixel wide state, with only the heads showing. Both the .xcf and .psd contain the layers. As such, by opening either of them in GIMP/Photoshop, you can remove the grid, example hat, and body. I'm quite certain you already know that, ne?

Here is the template in .xcf and .psd form:

in fact, this helmet seem to be more in leather than in wood. :)

Pauan : I propose this one : Image
a 32*32 grid, and the future is taken in count (the empty frames).

an idea for the complete snake-set : Image

I know. That's why I mentioned leather.Add a steel band or two, maybe a small steel cup at the top and you have a standard leather helmet. :P

I made a start with the headgear compatible hairstyles. This is the medium one so far in action. Also did a circlet and a steel cap.

I like the snakeleather set btw.

Modanung:
I like the headbands and the circlet. The steel cap is nice but isnt it tilted back a little to much?

VxD:
Great work on the leather helmet!Me like. :P
How to describe a steel cup at the top?Hmmm.Ah!Picture those small "hats" that jews sometimes have on their head but a bit smaller.Make it in steel and put it on the leather helmet at the top.

Yes, maybe you're right. I used the circlet as the bottom of the helmet.

Modanung: i think the steel cap should maybe not be that tight. I think it would look better when it is one or two pixels larger than the head.

VxD: Your wooden helm is a good start, but it needs a lot of work. You are using only strict horizontal and diagonal lines. That is a very bad style. Try to make the shape more round. Then you are drawing it strictly from the side and not in a 45° from above perspective. You can fix this by making the lower edge round. Modanungs steel cap or my "basic helm" from page 1 are good examples.

As I pointed out earlier, the empty frames seen in our current hairstyles and headgear is because of the _old_ playerset. It's not something we plan to add, but something that is no longer necessary. Please leave them out.

Another thing I need to point out is that you shouldn't make your frame size larger than necessary. Our animation system is currently flexible enough to use different frame sizes for each headgear. The frames in this template are way too large for most headgear.

Put a pearl or something else shiny in the middle of it.
