[FND] Bridge

Post by Reid »

A river cut the city into two sides, we will need some bridges tiles.
Spoiler:

Something like this is what I had in mind, should be easy to do, though, I will complete some other tilesets before to start it, so if anybody want to work on it, he's free to!

An example of the river by Hal, it might be a little larger now that we have enough tiles to make it good.

Look also at the todo list's concept map for more information on the river.

I made a simple bridge with the same style than the dock.

Though, I still have some doubt with the vertical woods, should it have more light?

Or less? (like the port)

If it needs to stay as is or with more lights, should we change the port tiles as well?
IMO the dark version doesn't fit with other tiles, so the dock might cause some trouble as well, but that's just my guess.

I prefer the lighter wood, it's much more lively.
Also, I think there is way too many wooden columns under the bridge, going in the water. Maybe use less of them?

Btw, I got a bridge idea, I'll try to work on it some day.

I've put many column because wood is not that much resistant, and that many people and merchandise will go on it everyday.
Also, that's useless to rework every piece of art again and again, that one has been changed from the alpha, we have many other tileset from alpha which hasn't been changed and who are in an horrible shape.

I mark this thread has FND for the aurora?

I really like it and I think it would work almost everywere, but for the main bridge(s) in Artis I would prefer to see a stone bridge. It makes little sense that with such an important bridge in the middle of a city, no one would think of upgrading to stone, which is definitely something that the people of Artis *can* do in their time period.

Ah right... I should have thought about it. I might use this bridge for the aurora1 though, I have 3 other large tilesets to done yet. =/

I made this during my lunchbreak at work:

I haven't tested it out yet, so it might look out of place. (just like my previous attempt at the stone bridge :P ).

Especially the big stone in the middle sucks I think alt25. Also the sides need to have other (bigger) stones.

Im not sure if I like the fence for it. Right now I cropped and edit it very quickly just to see whether it looked oke or not. And I'm not sure yet actually... What do you guys think?

(also can you spot the mistakes cause I was lazy with the crop and edit? There are 2 mistakes, 1 one with the fence, and another one somewhere else ;) )

It looks nice but I wonder if it's needed, there's already the border of the bridge which protect players to... fall... alt25
on the overall it looks pretty, should we put dirt or pavement on the walking part?
Look at our current river tiles, there's a shadow part under it, it could be nice to add it as well.

The problem with the current border is that it is placed wrong on the tileset. No part of the playersprite will be 'behind' the border. By adding the metal fence I hope to give more depth to the bridge.

And yes I need to add a shadow under the bridge :P

This bridge would be perfect for the city, it's exactly what I was suggesting!
