Scrolls

DryGravyTrain and I have made up some scroll items/icons. Scrolls could be used for many things, such as teleporting back to town (return scroll), or summoning monsters to fight for you (summon scrolls), or call a magic attack (fire scroll). From what I can see, there have been no topics covering these features, so lets hear your thoughts...

Great idea, this could extend the gameplay a lot, we'll see if we can script something. About the icons I don't really love them, I think they could use more shading and details.

I like the coloring. I felt mine might have been a little too monochrome.

I think it would be great to have a bunch of different looking scrolls to fill all the roles that scrolls can play. Some scrolls could be items just for NPC quests (IMO quest items should be seperate from every other item in the game), some for conjuring magic, some for summoning monsters, and some for teleportation. I have seen games use scrolls for things like experience boosters (100% experience increase per monster), but players had to BUY those scrolls with real life money. I do not like the idea of buying items with real money to get something in game, I just wanted to give some examples of what possibilities scrolls offer. If there is a serious interest in this, DryGravyTrain and I will create a handful a scrolls to be used for various things....

What about a closed scroll? I mean something like the one on the left.

doesn't load. When entering the picture url directly it gives a 403 forbidden error. Seems as if your webhoster doesn't allow hot linking. I would suggest you to use http://imageshack.us

I fixed the link above I think, I was hosting on DrWahls server for convenience, but I dont have the ability to make read accessible.

Now its on my server, let me know if it works or not...
