But they should be working just fine now..

Do you guys think there should be different looking scrolls?

Ex. closed scrolls for quests or maps, and open scrolls for magic, summons, etc...

Also what ideas does everyone have in ways these can be used effectively?

I definitely want scrolls to look different.
That raise another question. Shall we have a indentify function? All scrolls could look the same until they have been identified and then look like the function they have.

so for example the scroll is in closed form until it is identified as such and such scroll...or maybe has to be unlocked to perform its function....

That's how it work in some RPGs yes. Personally I like the identify feature, but it should only be for certain things like magical stuff and scrolls for example.

I'm not sure what eAthena allows us to do, but I'm pretty sure there could be enough space for some nice add-ons. Starting from the 1st December I should have some spare time to look into this stuff, so we can plan something nice for a Xmas event/release.

Nice work on the scrolls people.

Possible uses for scrolls:

-instructions on mixing spells
-maps of secret locations
-warping
-pieces of an elaborate puzzle imbedded in quest
-bank statement
-riddles (quests)

I think I like that idea. :)
But we'd need a pop-up bitmap that shows the content of the scroll.
Something like this?

Just a two-colour quicky.

I think it has a nice shape, but does it make sense that the top and bottom curl in different directions?

Nope, half of the icons has it as well though. Proably just looks cool. :)

true functionality can be sacrificed for good looks, IMO.

But I think it would look better when both ends curled the same way.

Actually many of scrolls were done this way to easly wrap it while being read read, and to make it not wrap automagically when unwrapped or left (in the times when paper were made out of leafs, animal skin etc. stuff which may break when gets stiff when getting dry).
