Come on! Don't just recolor the normal player sprite. Pixel it yourself.

you could use the particle engine for cold (blue) mist underneath. or about. I think there's some work for mist already anyway, regarding particle engine or so.

and yeah, man, make your own torso... it should be bigger/buffer than the normal player. we want to cause fear ;) also, no eyes...or if so, thin, white eyes. hmm.. if I had a tablet, I'd draw something for you ;]

I'll try later make a picture of something I'll sketch up on a piece of paper.

Cheers.

I just learned that by making the background just a bit darker than the darkest color, you get an effect making the crystals look opiac and more distinguised.

Anything else I should do before I continue?

Please drop that dithering and avoid to use only strict diagonal and vertical lines.

Imageshack's a great company. I'm going to stop eating their bandwidth.

Personally, I like more how yoshuara did it.

What exactly should I change about it now?

i'm no pixel art expert, all i can say is that it lacks volume... you basically have shapes but they are flat, now it looks like a mosaic from almost-white and bright blue color... everything needs highlights and shadows.. simply depth...i have problems with it myself every time. :)

Im going to scrap the original design tonight and resize the crystals, I think they need to be 4px in width rather than 3px.

EDIT: Should I just apply the cubism filter in theGIMP? It seems like it would work perfectly.

Don't use filters and start to experiment with a lot larger crystals. Going down in scale it is harder to express the same detail.

So pehaps something like 150px wide crystals first as a proof of concept and training and going incrementially smaller when approved of..?
