[REQ] animated tiles

Post by Crush »

I just added experimental support for animated tiles to the developer version of the eAthena client. So we should make use of this new ability. Thus I would like to ask all tile artists to take some commonly used tiles from the existing tilesets and create animated versions of them.

Specifications:
-The animation loop can have any number of frames
-The delay between the frames can be any value in 10ms steps. The delays don't have to be the same for each frame.
-The order of frames is not bound to the position in the tileset. Frames can be reused when necessary.
-Please post your animation as a "mini tileset" with all frames next to each other without gaps.

Do I hear the distant sound of waves hitting the beach?

As we have a defined light direction for shading I guess we also need a defined wind direction for animated tiles.

I don't think there should be a universal direction. I don't see a problem with wind blowing one way in one map and another way in a different map.
In game characters: "5t3v3" and "L "

It makes sharing harder as each map needs to be consistent.

Wind direction is from left to right. Any Objections? No? OK.

It would help to have a test environment set up for artists to slot potential tilesets in to. To view an animation in both GIMP's animation tool and TMW, the artist would need to rearrange their tileset.

Attached is a WIP that might work, but I haven't seen it move yet.
