They look good, but please make one recolorable version instead. Also, a "death" frame (after it has been hacked) would be nice.

In action:
Here the current graphic for comparison:
The green of the stalk is too similar to the grass so that it does not really stand out and the recolorable leafs need more contrast (larger brightness difference between bright and dark parts)Here the current graphic for comparison:

Increased the contrast of the leafs. Note how the details are much more visible:

Re: New Plant Monsters for a Alchemy Quest ^^
I think we should use both sprites (implementation: have each for half the directions). Two more to fill it out would also be nice.
Re: New Plant Monsters for a Alchemy Quest ^^
I am still wondering what color we should use for the green plants. I am indecisive between the saturated Charteuse, the quite pale Celadon and the ugly but very cool-sounding Viridian.
The black plants will need a multi-shade color ramp because black looks boring without white highlights. So we have to abandon this in-joke here. Maybe use a portmanteau of the highlight color and the base color?

Why not just name it viridian and then give it a different green-ish color. The cobalt plant is alot darker than cobaltblue to.Crush wrote: I am still wondering what color we should use for the green plants. In game characters: "5t3v3" and "L "
Re: New Plant Monsters for a Alchemy Quest ^^
I think the blue ones are too dark.Crush wrote:By the way: The names of the plants which are currenly ingame are also the names of the colors they are dyed with. I've intentionally chosen color names which are very obscure to hide this theme naming.

Re: New Plant Monsters for a Alchemy Quest ^^
No, you are wrong about this. The color used for dyeing the plants is 00 47 ab, the color value listed by Wikipedia for cobalt blue. The resulting color is darker, of course, because the plant sprite is not plain white. But this applies to all plant colors.5t3v3 wrote:Why not just name it viridian and then give it a different green-ish color. The cobalt plant is alot darker than cobaltblue to.
This color is called Brandeis: Should we change the name? Would maybe affect some NPC scripts etc. Other options might be Cerulean or Azure (although the latter is too well known IMO) Should we change the name?

Or add it as a new herb. As for obscure names, we can leave English too. dead languages are nice for exotic words.

How about anagrams, like Crushland (Hurnscald)?jaxad0127 wrote:Or add it as a new herb. As for obscure names, we can leave English too. dead languages are nice for exotic words.
Eubl (Blue)
Ualer (Azule)
Note:
Latin for blue is Caerulea
Latin for green is Viridis
Latin for orange is Flava
Lazy bum.
