[WIP] Custom tiles for the Village of Saltern

Post by Inkweaver »

I am currently working on a map for a new area for TMW.

You can find the WIP thread for the map at:
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 02&start=0

This thread is for the work I am doing to make custom tiles for the area.

So far I have created a wood shingle roof image, a larger cave entrance, and a solid wood wall tile for the base of the stage and another that I might possible use for the walls of the canal.
The current tileset, just six 32x32 tiles.

I like the large cave entrance, not sure if I like the other tiles. The roof really needs some work. The grid to obvious. I like to see something like:

Where every row is a few pixels more to the left/right/top/bottom/whatever, to make it more interesting. You also need to draw a tile for the transition between the wall and the roof.
If you want to improve the large cave entrance (which already is pretty good IMO) you can try to make the transition between ground and shadow like this:

Great ideas.

I'll work on a new tile roof image, and the transition. I'll see what I can do with the larger cave entrance too. I was thinking about making another even a little bit larger.
