Meway, I like Crush's enhanced version best, but really like the version you posted just before his for some other kind of ore (it's stripes remind me of seashells, It just looks cool.) I do have to say that I would miss the old iron ore if it went away, but perhaps it's recolor of the origional ore icon could be used for lumps of coal or nuggets of other metals if yours replaces it's current usage.

i wouldn't mind it being in game for use of another item at all :)

The problem with ore is that it is found deep within caves right? It cannot be too bright, even as Crush's picture, which is outside. But, at the same time the item needs to stand out as an item and not background.

Meway: I agree hang on to that first "seashell" ore, it is entrancing!

I like Crush's ore, but is it going to stand out in the cave?

I also couldn't find (on quick search) Crush's picture example. Like someone else mentioned, the most abundant seems to be brown hematite. But, given the tradition of iron ore in this genre and its depiction as steely gray, I like Crush's iron ore, maybe with some more "shiny" protrusions.

Just asking but, why would we need dyable ore ?

So we don't require different graphics for different minerals and can add new ones with a minimum amount of work.

A thought, Meway.

I like the shape. The color, for me, is a bit of an issue.

The current color of the iron ore is a little difficult to distinguish from the cave floor. Freshly unearthed iron ore would have much of its surrounding lithosphere's appearance. So it's not a nasty joke on the part of the artists to make it difficult to see.

I'm sure the four-leaf clovers aren't easy to find in the grass or in the woodland hills. The same should be true of Iron Ore.

The idea, with all due respect to Crush, is not to make it look like 'real' ore. The idea is to make it look like it fits in with the rest of the artistic texture of The Mana World, in my humble opinion. Photo-realistic ore, at this point in the game's artistic development, would look very odd.

for a slime to be the one carryng this around i would think it would be smoothed out and cleaned a bit IMO but if snakes or any other monster from slime than i would gladly agree.
