Ok i hvae been thinking on the previous posts in this thread and i noticed you saying something of SoM tiles. Well it caught my interests so i did one.
(actualy my first tile ever :D )

ooh and I am veyr new to tiles so i did a square 32x32 i read some about different
isometics and stuff liek that but by looking at the tiles being used i dont know if we are following any of them so as i said i did a square one :P
ooh perhaps i should try stacking it before posting it but i will do that afterwards
*pats his tile, go get em tiger*

here it is :)
enjoy.

Image

Crush if you like use it, and if you need anything else contact me and i will get to it asap :)

and again Elven. thank you for those links ^^ i have learned _alot_ by reading these tutorials or rather i should say i have learned that i dont know much about working in 2D ...

Hahaha *keeps laughing* ok that loooked sick :P
I have alot of work to do to make it look less (and thats _ALOT_ less) "fixed" hmm i should say i have alot of work to amke it "float" into each other >_<

to emberassed to show the result but enjoy the tile

The tile looks really nice, impressive, but I wonder it you can fill an area with it? I mean is it tileable? And maybe it looks more like a cell surface, but you got the SoM style more than others...
I'll give you a ton of other links if they let you create those great things  Keep it up, I want you to become one of our tilers.

hehe as i said in the bottom of my post above
...
it didnt go that smoothly

but i am working on fixing that (did a 128x128 block and filled it)
btw do the tile setter overlap or put em at the end of the tile?
good to know when i am fixing them.
and do you tile them via a vertical tile (with transparence ) or a sqaure (one filled with colors)

Every tile is placed at the end of another one.

I didn't understand the other question.

yeah as i said ^^ i was to embarassed to show the it tiled
now it shown either way =P but i can up them as they look now
i got a bit problems with fixing the grip (what makes it have borders)
one way it looks nice but the at the "sides" (right and left border) it looks as if it has "boulders" and in the long run looks as if it has a border *sobs*

Image

And the tile :

it looksbetter but the "border" on the sides are still there *thinking of starting from scratch again*

Hmm after starring at it for a while i think i am making the grass to thin ... or small or how you say ... i think that might be the reason for the "bumby" grass if you can call it that.

as a self critic i dont think someone just comming by and see that pic will relate it to grass ... maybe a bunch of green worms stuck in a ... ye .. Harem?

hehe i found a tool in gimp ... it was kinda fun :) a premade brush to make a vine =P

this is what making 320x320 and then minimize it became:

Ok i ahve been working on another tile one that is drwan with a more upward angle then the one earlier.

Here is teh half done one (will keep on working on it after upping it)
please come with sudgestion and pointing out stuff relating to that tile:

and yes its not done yet :) (Edit: its been done)

Image

here it is tiled in 64x64 pixels:

Image

Yes its yellow (i was getting so tirerd i abrely was able to keep my eyes open, needed a brighter color to work with :P , will change that tomorow)
Well overall i think this one looked ok, will be easier to judge it after the color swap tomorow.

hmm maybe the "wilder" look gave it grids in the midle oooh well will take a look at that tomorow.

There's definately improvement here, but there's still the issue of the grass looking tiled.

One thing I thought about that might help prevent that: what about making one single, really large grass "tile" (say, 160x160), then chopping it up into a number of regularly-sized tiles? There would still be the issue of tiling around the edges of the large "tile," and you would have to test for continuity between the small ones once they were scrambled, but that would be a relatively easy way to make a large number of different grass (or rock, or sand) tiles all at once without having to worry about the tiling effect so much.

Might be something to try out.

Talaroc: Yes i know what you meen been working on a similiar stuff...
But all teh grids (most of) is only comming from the center of the tile not the edges since i make the grass straws go out in the edge and end on the oposite edge (if the grass goes out the east side it will end on the south) that way the grids from teh sides are removed but then i also need to make the center not to be grided thats where the hardpart comes in. But ia hev been working alot with Tile studio where you can see your work change by each pixel ^^

Ultim will try that :D

and it feels as if i am growing alot with my work :D
Which is a fun thing.

Ok right now i am jsut about to go to bed so i will up my work today in the morning or after comming back from school. :P

i would like to post with my first account, but this forum won't let me.

as suggested by degen i made some variant water tiles (two for every horizontal and vertical tile and one for each diagonal one)
Image

i also integrated the cliffs into the grass, added a shade to one of the diagonal walls and made the other one a little bit brighter.
Image

about the tiles made by degen: they look good, but they don't fit the style of my tiles. so i would suggest degen to work on another tileset.
