Woo really promising map-part.
The only bad thing for me is that a complete Woodland Tileset Map with
monsters most likely won't make it for next release.

the picture is about the trees, not about the path or the other stuff on the picture. please concentrate on that topic!
especially i would like to know what you like better. the regular shaded trees by kinetic on the left or the rough shaded trees by me on the right side.

i could finish it, but sadly the monster artists won't. so i resceduled the release of the woodland maps to version .18 on the wiki.

My hope is that the maps will be released inbetween the stable releases on CVS.
Altough non-CVS Players will get a map-error...
Hmm... will you use the Update system for that ?

:
I prefer right shading of Kinetics trees.
( the orig. trees have that strange bulb at right bottom that
doesn't seem to be a part of the tree - strange shading)

I also prefer crush shading on kinetics tree's gaev them that little extra to amke them look more alive.
Good work on improving those tree's Crush

I prefer your shading because it's a bit more wild, but it seems as if there are 2 horizontal lines which I'd remove.

Uh, Crush don't make me hit you!
That tree you used as my example was the first tree I made which is a bad example because I made newer ones. Haven't you noticed me posting newer shading on the tree?
Well anyway, I improved my shading... This is my tree now.
And this is my tree on the map. Mine is the left one (again).

It still fades to much into the grass on the lower right side, try to darken the outline...

Ok... I darkened the outline on my tree on the lower right side...
I think the darker the outline the more it fades into grass but whatever
I edited my previous post with the new version

I think it would also improve a lot if the trees dropped some shadow on the grass.

Modanung could be right in that i dont think it needs more shadow on the tree but perhaps giving the tree a shadow as well would improve it.
Btw kinetic great work on making that tree
the leaves are great !!
hmm and the grass perhaps it needs a lighter color, more yellowish perhaps to make it stand more on its own?
Also
I made a new grass tile from scratch _no_ training in this one
all started out with only TS and what i have learned you can even check up on it dont mind
But i do think i need to work more on tis edges to make it less bound on its place since i liked how switching vertical and horizontal could add that wildness to a tile this one had a few corners in it that didnt like it if by payin attention you can see them. but its all one and the same tile.
ooh and i remember the post before with a "whole in the ground" suggestion evry common in snes rpg's so i did one as well but it didnt go well at all (think i need to study crush's cliff tiles since they where made really good)
Here is tiles:

degen, your grass looks more like a tree texture to me (but a damn fine one). it seems that's because it is seen from top down, not from a 45? angle.

Yeah it looks more as if they were fallen leaves from a tree more than grass, anyway they look damn nice.

actualy i agree with that one ^^ after viewing it up adn down a few times it sure do look more liek fallen leafs then grass perhaps shading them in red/brown color might make something out fo it

I would reduce the contrast between the light and dark a little bit, but otherwise yes, that's a damn fine fallen leaves tile.

hehe yeah and now that i do pay more attentio to the hole i think its good need some work on the "dirt" else it looks good imo.
