Wonky World!

Post by HaloNott » 03 Aug 2019, 14:59

Rule 1: ManaWorld has the final word on all things. :alt-3:
That includes switching any of this anyhow. Confirm with Manaworld.

A world where you put in user content regardless of theme! You could divide user content into categories(islands/worlds)!

That way perspective won't matter, phasing out won't matter, peeps can go to worlds they like the art / music of!

We could have old content new content silly content all family friendly. Therefore no NSFW work in any Wonky World. If you wish to post NSFW do not use Mana World.
Wonky World will have no gender presets in case people want to be a rubix cube, a jelly bean or a three headed dog. 8)
Motto: Nothing is impossible, nu rly. ~Mana World

We could have templates for how stuff works. Eg.: Food type items would have a range of stat combos. Let's say we decide on a hundred tier three items which could have combos like 100 HP, 50 HP 50 mana, 10* speed and such. We could start a thread and peeps can fill up the spaces. Tier 10 could be knicknacks that give 50 HP.

They could also pick which profession can make it. If they don't pick what items are used to make it we use random.org to pick two items required to make it.

We could also do the same for pet movements and stats. Eg.: Type 3 pets move like slimes (regardless of animations) and so on.

We could have users decide on let's say ten skills, if ever they feel like it. Or devs can add it as they wish to any world.

Peeps who put in content agree their content may be changed. We could sort this with lvl up. Basically we use random.org to determine how an item levels up, i.e., changes to a certain user generated animation/image. Peeps will also be able to freeze level up and use items to select what level they wish for items with several levels.

There would be in-game radios for small tunes too ^^.

If peeps want their art to work a certain way they can create their own code. We could have a library warning peeps of items deemed dangerous from this (text enters library after posting on relevant thread). Posts that don't make it peeps can shout of course. Or you could create a hidden library for all texts too silly (still family friendly only). 8)

Edit: Obviously content would only go into the world after being posted here and sorted. Peeps agree to be endlessly patient if they want their content in.

Peeps who want their content in immediately would be require to add correct code, sound effects/music by themselves or wait for help.

For peep drama content (why is my content not there? It's your job) peeps would accept it as part of the game and can team up, ask for help or else sort out the code and sound/music on their own and correctly. We could just include in rules that peeps understand this.

Of course, we could have two test worlds in order to test all things too wonky. One would be dev test world and the other user test world. We could have bonus enabled save states (export will be available for all wonky worlds, however import will only be available for peep test world), which could revive items or peeps to a backup from their pc(like how some html5 games allow you to export and import a save state to your pc). Peeps would also be responsible for resuscitating one test world if it crashes hehe. Server issues would also have to solved by them hehehe. Until fully sorted no peep test world! Muhuhahahahaha! :alt-5: The other one is only for official developers with assistance via threads if the devs wish. We could call the dev test world "hard mode" and the peep test world "Mission impossible" heeeeeeeeehehehehehe. Devs can also work peep test world if the devs wish to. Peeps may decide how much content goes into saves for peep test world. If peeps decide, import save could bring back anything in peep test world even those causing glitches unless peeps sort out the code to make all things glitchy disappear. Hence, the name "Mission Impossible".

What ManaWorld decides to do is part of the story in all Wonky worlds.

Calamities (mentioned below) may cause dev world to be different from peep test world as peeps must decide what happens in peep test world. This also means characters may be permadeleted or perma changed in peep test world. hehehehehe If they don't have a save state that is. hehehehehehe All wonky worlds will have calamities. hehehehe

Items may only be added to the world one per day. Random.org will sort out which items are added. Or you could add them in a reasonable bulk and then wait a week to see if glitches ensue. This depends on how you would soon you would be able to confirm that an item has tested out well. You could keep item/bulk items in peep test world(Mission impossible) until you wish to sort them.

The aim of the game would be to survive in a world this wonky, with possible glitches "annihilating" you and "destating" you. Where things are definitely not impossible. hehehehe  The game also means to encourage coding(if you can), accepting help, helping and creating your own content from scratch. :alt-7: Calamities may also strike such as jinxes which cause items to magically disappear from existence or change with a zap or earthquakes that change areas entirely, apocalypses (hehe), and so on. :alt-3:

(Please note: Apocalypses can be the real deal! :alt-5: Perma Wonky world deaths can happen!)

(Suggestion: If peep makes earth we add that hehe. Maybe someone will add transport via eaten by red flower hehe.)

I think it would be easy to begin. Basically dev can put in any amount of content wished, eg.: one house, etc.

Peeps sort content into threads: Art, music, code, etc.
Eg.: If art, then peeps sort art like this:

Cooked egg:
Type: Food
Profession: Chef
Items to create: Egg, oil
Tier 10

Since we don't have an image for oil, we leave it to random.org to pick any item to replace it. For example, red flower. hehehehe  Later we could add categories such as (tool needed: stove) based on users, devs, vote on it if you wish. Peeps may add custom to any of the categories except tier in dev server or dev test server. Peeps would be responsible for developing the content themselves or acquiring help if anyone is willing.

In the event an item is used to much for cooking someone may cast a spell on the world... :alt-9:

Not directly related as I'm speaking of rEvolt here and not about Wonky Worlds, but just for information:

1 - We can officialy offer players alternative artwork, by using the mod system. Of course, that means someone would need to maintain the mod system (for example, by re-arranging legacy hurnscald tileset so it matches the new Hurnscald tileset, adding stuff as devs add stuff, and so go on).

Might be a bit redundant to say, but volunteers pretty much do what they wish within a central direction. In a building, for example, if they are to clean the floor, they'll clean in the order they wish, usually whenever it is more convenient for them, etc.
If the volunteers think the floor doesn't needs to be cleaned at all, the leader may shout “CLEAN THIS DIRTY FLOOR” all they want, unless they do it themselves, the floor will remain dirty.

Likewise, TMW is a volunteer-based game. This means the Do It Yourself rule is there. Currently, no developer want to go though the trouble of re-arranging legacy tilesets and maintain them in the mod system, so I don't need to say support for alternative graphics will never happen at this rate.
Of course, if someone did that, it would be considered. (It might not get in, though, which is also a quirk of democracy)

2 - Micksha already proposed that if somebody wanted to make development in rEvolt in a more free way, they could map small islands (using rEvolt tilesets, graphics, etc. of course) and write custom quests. He had the plan of a open world exploration, where you would control a ship and could stop by these "add-on islands".

Again, DIY rule is the sovereign here. WildX cannot change stuff to fit them in the lore if said stuff simply doesn't exist to start with.
Also, the Game Consistency Golden Rule... Everything ingame world must make sense from an ingame world perspective. For example, imagine that in a certain island you cannot use provoke skills. The Golden Rule will then ask: “Why?”. Balance excuses are not relevant here, it must have an ingame meaning for it. If there is no ingame-world-perspective meaning, it is just “weird” and should not get in.
Otherwise, you don't have a game, but a collection of small worlds which for that purpose and effect... We could just have multiple char servers and map servers running under the same parent Login Server. Just like you use the same account from The Mana World to login on The Mana World Test Server.

Although, from what I understood, Wonky Worlds idea is to have a collection of worlds, not a game, so...

Also, entirely absolutely unrelated, but if WildX gets to read this message, please let him know I'm the coder, not the game designer of rEvolt, and I need him to say what will come next because I'm too lazy to do that myself. Hey, I already design two other games. That's plenty, if you ask me.

After this, I want an Offtopic Specialist hat. Thanks. ^.^

The real beauty behind TMW is it's simplicity and his hard way of game. I found it really addictive sometimes and really boring too. The real matter to me is the lack of quests that makes the game slowly unveil the story behind TMW and let imagine it just as reading a book. However TMW has strict developing policies about introducing new contents since mistakes can lead to severe problems like server crash, loss of data or corrupted economy.

I think that the real problem it is you, HaloNott.
Asking to expand the game after you asked for removing the online list feature makes me think that you would to like to make this game something so addictive to get isolated both from reality and game's story.

Developers here are not a bunch of wage-slaves working software house corporations they are people like me and you with their own life. They cannot make something comparable to top-notch commercial games but they have built a simple game with a nice community behind it. The "human touch" behind this game is something rare and invaluable nowadays. I thought that the real purpose is to live the day in a hard environment getting along together instead of getting busy on adding and manipulating game parts living in your own island until boredom comes up and maybe without making the opportunity to share something with others. Just think to some minetest servers that had a lot of features but after some time a lot of players left because game turned boring or too easy to play or usually they play on their own without being able to share fun with others.

A good way to understand and make good proposals to develop content is to setup a server of your own.
If you are good enough at developing or at involving people in your project you can make an enhanced clone of this game too.
(I'm still having issues initializing Hercules but I will try it again when I have more spare time and will)

If you just want to play a real challenge with the opportunity to lose everything you had you should consider TMW Hardcore.

Well the point is to have a world with no theme, just for the fun of seeing your content played with online. :alt-3:
Instead of just looking at peoples artwork on the forum you could actually play with it.

So what's the meaning of the world itself?

As I said contents has to pass some test before getting released. Probably more of those contents will reach the new server instead of the legacy one.

As said before family friendly only and therefore no NSFW work. If you wish to post NSFW do not use Mana World.
