Storyline

Okay, I just had an idea. Dunno if it'll work for you, but it's worth a shot.

Basically, across the world in the game, a disease has spread crazily. Every living animal or human is susceptible to it. The disease turned you into a sort of killing machine. Whoever or whatever got affected would just kill until they die, Everyone feared the extinction of mankind was on the horizon. That is, until they discovered a fountain of a liquid (Mana?) that immunized the people from the disease. Newborn babies were immediately given the liquid. A few more fountains were discovered. Towns began to build themselves around the fountains, because a fountain was necessary for any successful town. However, one day, the fountain in one of the cities stopped. The people deserted the town and occupied another one. That day, it was realized that the fountains were not forever. They can stop, begin, become fainter, become stronger, at any time. Also, the liquid can't help many breeds of animals. Outside the town, the world was filled with hostile animals. They would strike at everyone recklessly until they [the animals themselves] were killed. The disease took hold of all them. However, in order to discover new fountains, people needed to go through the wilderness filled with these animals. This is where the story is. Cities/towns need the fountains for their newborn. Also, the liquid would be needed to revive dead players. (This ties into the proposed death penalty. People would either need to have other people with mana on them, or they would have to be returned to the town to access the fountain). Numerous playing opportunities can be seen in this storyline. A city would be abandoned once the fountain inside it stopped flowing. The city would be invaded with monsters and maybe even some super powerful humans that became affected by the virus. Newly found fountains would start out as "frontier" type settlements. They would be filled with dangerous enemies only higher level people could clear before the n00bs could occupy the town without dying every second. Once the monsters are driven out of the new town, it would expand, and become less crude, and become a city.
I doubt this is feasible, it just sounds cool.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, around the towns would be a sort of circumference of land that would be occupied with non-diseased animals that n00bs could level up off of.
