some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
hi.
i think that this is a great and fun game
but still could be made better
for example an open-world mmorpg. similar to Tibia and Runescape.
but to of course keep the original ideas with the game, which makes the
game very good also (The Zelda look of the game, the systems of skill etc.)
maybe what is needed is better servers and codings so about a couple hundreds
up to a thousand players can be online at the same time.
and then also a bigger map/ world.
i think that this would make the game better
also some kind of loss when you die
for example that you loose all your items (but not those equipped)
other ideas could also be the system of travelling in the map, that it doesnt
load after you enter another area. or at least that you see other players
all the time on the map,, however this is not the most important
another idea to this could be secondary skills. like Mining, Fishing, Smithin, making
clothes, doing potions etc.
sorry if my ideas seem unlogical
but the best with the game is just the graphics, the PvP, and that your equipments
show on your player. thats also a good thing with this game
I wish you great luck in developing this game!

Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
Would not be possible with the current server and client and also we need to limit mobs to their map so open world is not an optionfor example an open-world mmorpg. similar to Tibia and Runescape.
The server can already handle LOTS of players. The reason we don't have many players is not because the server can't handle them.maybe what is needed is better servers and codings so about a couple hundreds up to a thousand players can be online at the same time.
We recently shrank the world by eliminating some maps because it was too big for too few players.and then also a bigger map/ world.
Feel free to start a poll in this forum (Content Suggestions)also some kind of loss when you die for example that you loose all your items (but not those equipped)
We already pre-load the graphics (using map atlases in maps.xml) but I guess we could easily implement map pre-render in manaplus. It would be a setting that you could turn on in the Setup window to pre-render all contiguous maps (defined by the "warp" map object).that it doesnt load after you enter another area.
We are experimenting with increasing the radius of visible players but doubling the radius means increasing the visible radius by more than 4 times since it is exponential rather than linear. Increasing the visible radius by 4 times means sending 4 times as much data to the client so 4 times more data for the client (and the server) to process. We might gradually increase the radius, one tile at a time to see the impact but not for now.or at least that you see other players all the time on the map
We have plans for thatanother idea to this could be secondary skills. like Mining, Fishing, Smithin, making clothes, doing potions etc.
Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
hi thanks for looking to my post
i have a few ideas tho...
* that items you drop doesnt disappear. if they have to dissapear, then it shud take long time before they do.
* this one is great i think: What NPC's sell in their stores and buy from players will be (I am not so good in the english to say it but i'll explain instead...) For example if you sell 10 red apples to an NPC, that NPC has then added 10 apples in his/her storage and other players can buy them (Then of course for a higher price.) Also that every 24'th hour NPC's will gain for example 20 000 more arrows to sell, or any other item which is important for players, and should be added. This system was in Runescape when it was quite new . also the more items the cheaper the price, the less the more expensive. but this may not count to all items, for example arrows. or the price stays the same no matter how much is in storage.
* More people should play this game! and then, if possible, make the map bigger:)
i hope you will do those Secondary skills in Mana world too. that would be cool
More to say: I think the leveling up system, skill system etc is Good.

Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
Well, I think that the problem is not "more maps" than more content and more quest, there are already some deserted maps.

The secret to getting all the important stuff done is doing nothing.
Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
one more idea: Open PvP. i think that would make TMW more fun
however if it becomes too messy, maybe one shud adjust the PvP systems
i hope you want to try this....
i think it s not a difficult change in the program, right?

Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
by Open PvP i mean that you can attack other players...
first to try is that anyone can attack or be attacked
there is no "skull" system, as in Tibia
also because players do not loose anything when dead.
it is not a too risky thing to try in the game

Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
one more idea: For creatures that do not give sound when being attacked
could yet have a "standard-being attacked sound"
until they receive one of their own

Re: some thoughts and ideas about The Mana World
Sorry for my many posts and suggestions
but 1 thing that i think should be changed in TMW
is= Make monsters spawn less often... this way it is easier to avoid
being killed, and also makes a more realistic feeling of the game.
then the Open PvP i think would be a nice thing to try=
That any player can attack or be attacked
these 2 things, especially the first i think should take effect in game.
