Text smoothing option, and portable data directory

Is there an option to adjust the text smoothing in ManaPlus, and if not could it please be added?
I wanted to be able to make the text look like this:
And not like this:
in the current ManaPlus version, but couldn't find any way to do it.
Also, when I install ManaPlus as portable, it creates the same portable.xml file whether it's the current version or an old version like 1.6.7.2, but in the current and more recent versions, it saves the configs and stuff to a user directory instead of the game one, while it does put them in the game directory in 1.6.7.2. Is there a way to configure the directory for that stuff to be put in the game directory instead of a user directory for better portability?
