Feature - Equipment and Inventory Window Combined
Combining the equipment and the inventory window together as one.
The inventory effectively becoming the backpack.
Original Proposal:
The key differences from the image.
1. The separate inventory and equipment tab will be dropped.
2. Boxes will appear outside of the figure, so it doesn't obscure the image, preferring lines to indicate where items are placed.
Note -
1. The shortcut bar has been coded, so the need for accessing the inventory to use items, will become less dependent.
2. I hear the new system needs the ability to split items which should be included in the functionality.
Instead of the current context menu, we use an intuitive grab and drop item feature. For example if I click on the leather shirt, the item icon will follow the cursor, and if I move and click in the equip section, then it's equipped automatically in it's respective box. If I click on the map, then an ok confirmation comes up to drop the item.
It will be allot like how I implemented the shortcut bar.
Hotkeys and a highlight feature to make joypads, and keyboards work easily.
What I'm proposing here is nothing really new, just setting the change in concrete for when we (hopefully I) will go ahead with the change.
If this is to go ahead, I would code it for the trunk version only, not the eAthena client. If someone was really keen in making it compatible then I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to port over.
any additional ideas/feedback would be more than welcome.

That's a very nice example, of not using lines to indicate where items are placed. Maybe lines are unnecessary after all. ^-^Matt wrote:But everybody likes waste of space. Siege of Avalon for example
I've started the documentation, I never thought it would be so complex to work it all out. But the fact that I'm running into functionality problems now means it'll lessen the chances of me hitting them once I'm coding. =)
edit: I finished the document, it only took me all afternoon.
If I can get some feedback on this that would be great.

Here is the concept image:
Josh, you should use the wiki for publishing design documents like that. There is already an article about the equipment system on it. Feel free to expand it:

- former TMW Pixel artist
- NOT a game master
Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
