About the combat system.

Love it, never change it. The inevitable fail that is most MMORPG's is the pixels walking slower than my crippled grandma. I love zooming up layin' a couple arrows in somethin and runnin to the next target. It's perfect.

We know that we will (initially) lose a lot of players when we switch to 0.1. But we will still make the change as soon as the new server is mature enough because the current game is not the game we want to make. The vision of TMW is and always was to replicate the dynamic, diverse and challenging combat systems of SNES action RPGs like Secret of Mana, Zelda, Illusion of Time and Illusion of Gaia in an online form.

Fortunately for those who won't like the new game system the free software nature of TMW makes sure that anyone can create a new server with the old gameplay even after we abandoned it. Maybe we can even figure out some way to transfer characters to another server.

Wouldn't the fork Aethyra still be using this system?

As far as I understood them they also plan to hack a bit and change a few gameplay things. I don't know how far their plans are going and into what direction, though.

They are changing quite a lot, including the battle equations, and moving to a newer eAthena.

@Flash: I agree with you on the old battle system but I can't fully make a judgment until I see the new one the devs are cooking up.
