Alchemy System Feedback

Post by Crush »

The alchemy system is now online for over a week. We would be really interesting in feedback regarding this feature.
  • How much of your game time are you spending collecting and brewing herbs?
  • Are you trading herbs and/or potions with other people? What are the average prices you are buying/selling them?
  • Are you using the new health potions for leveling or do you still use food or beer for healing?
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

Best wishes.

I see.

NPC Caul.
"I can help you to brew healing potions out of mauve, cobalt, gamboge and alizarin herbs. How many potions do you want to brew?"

I have not seen any of these items in game yet.

Best wishes.

I still use beer since I'm not smart enough to make a potion that can heal better then an apple.

If brewing potions will give my character experience points towards my next level then I will begin to use it.

It's a nice idea, the only problem is that herbs tend to hide behind trees making them virtually invisible. We need them in some kind of pin somewhat like the flax fields of runescape.

Regarding finding the specimens. They are not that hard to find... Hint: How do you fight mobs?

While I haven’t brewed any potions yet, I’ve gathered some leaves. And I think it really adds to the gameplay, brings more variety to the game. :D

Suggestion: Add herbs to some other maps as well, perhaps a single few plants with longer spawning time.

I almost never use items for healing myself, except an apple or two in really dire situations, so I’ll refrain from commenting the potions themselves.

In alles, I enjoy the herbs.

I think cobalt and mauve are easy to collect but alizarin and gamboge are pain in my ***.
Usually I spent most of my game time on collecting herbs
I agree with bigglesworth about brewing potions. Experience for everyone who wanna make potions
Alchemy system works fine but im wondering about my tinys potions ? I mean maybe INT is useful here ? :?:

Some ponderings along the line of kutaho.

According to the files in the repository the herbs have the same quantities, occurance frequencies and drop rates. While the Western map is more labyrinthel than the South one, it does feel like the herbs occur more in both numbers and frequency on the latter map.

I have the following ratio of collected herbs (I’ve saved all this far):
1 : 1.4 : 3.1 : 3.4 (Alizarin : Gambroge : Mauve : Cobalt)

I have been on the Southern map a tad longer, but not much.

(I have yet to get a pearl!)

(I also yet have to get a pair of jeans. At times probabilities aren’t just in your favour...)

We're debating rates for other maps.

I really enjoy the collecting part, as a break between the normal levelling, and would like to see more recipes, perhaps with really rare herbs(like herbs only grow when the moon is full). At the moment the heal points aren't that useful.

indeed, you need at least 35int for a 1/35 chance of creating a large potion.
