New item suggestion ...

How about a class of items (monster drops) that are completely unusable by the player and are just dropped to see if someone will pick it up, stash it in their inventory (taking up a slot, weighing down a player), and take it back to town and try to sell it. These types of items could be like antiques and they could subdivided into a variety of subclasses. Then a series of NPC's could be created that deal with the buying of antiques found in the field, each NPC being more interested in one of those subclasses in particular and giving you better pay because he knows what that item is really worth.

Ex: you kill a mob and it drops a "Goblin King's Goblet" (main item class "Unusable", subclass "Drinkware"), you pick it up and try to equip it. Realizing that won't work, you go around trying to find an NPC antiques dealer who specializes in drinkware. He knows what this item is really worth, but you are unable to find him and sell it to another antiques dealer who pays you half of what it's worth.

Antique dealers are different from merchants.
