Minor Layering issue on map

Hi TMW team,

I am not sure what the symptons of a bug are, so here goes

Location:
Upstairs at Caul's (Miners Quarters)

Description of minor issue:
When my Character stands next to a bedside table, the item on the table appears over me, and not behind me
When I sit on a bed the Bedhead rail appears over me, and not behind me.

Regards
ikms

These are artefacts that for now are impossible to map perfectly, unless you circumvent them and only add “decorations” to tiles that are unwalkable by the player...

As I have understood it they come from the fact that the “decoration” is either in front of or behind the player. But in those circumstances when the player can place itself both behind and in front of the “decoration”, one the positions will have faulty layering/drawing.

Maybe this could be solved in the client with a check whether the player is behind/on/in front of the object in question, and draw the player and object appropriately?

Not quite. The way to prevent this is to use more map layers.

...which is now possible because we abandoned support for older versions which don't support arbitary layering.

Right. We just need to spend some time and do it.

Hooray! I forgot about the dropped support.

Given an example of how it should look, I can help with a map or two...
