that is a bit to dutch IMO. for the non dutch speaking people, it are the words (translated) "it's cold here" pasted together.

I like this, especially if Santa and other seasonal residents and monsters continue to be a feature. So when is the "Snouboo" going to be ready ;)

Nivalis being Latin for "of/from the snow" and Santa being a spun off the legends of the Roman Catholic St. Nicolas, I think it all makes for a nice fit.

Just pick one and go with it. No sense in dragging it too far. A popular vote on this scale for naming things just does not work.

If our background development would be a bit more definite, the names could actually have nice connections and themes, but for now random should be the most effective solution.

It already seems like some of the names are senseless (and randomly generated) ... Hurnscald ... Tulimshar ... Granted I can't come up with anything better.

I like the Nivalis name (in contrast to the other town names) but how about making it not so Latin ... like Nivalith or Nivvelith ... that way if you say fast enough it sounds Latin but technically isn't.

Hurnscald is neither senseless nor randomly generated. It is an anagram.

Off-topic, but what's it an anagram of?
