I do not understand why server should automatically ban any person. It has no reason to justify if ban is given for reason or if it is accidential.

You try to say "no". You say "nao" by accident. You are banned.

It would be fine if server would mute players for 10 seconds or so. Maybe kick them if they are very evil and say two words instead of one.

By the way, may I ask why you do not want new players to enter the game? I could imagine it would be very nice to get new players, who spread the word about the good game and more players enter. The game is in no way getting popular if you ban all the players.

I don't know what keyboard you are using, but it's nearly impossible to make that typo, O is on the complete other side of the keyboard.

It's between A and E on mine (Dvorak, UK user).

It is not the point. The point is that your list of words that shall not be named will contain at least one word that is easy to typo, at least if QWERTY keyboard is not used. That is why server should never ban anybody, because it does not have a clue about what it is doing.

I read a topic other day. A person was trying to cast some "trick or treat spell", and he was banned instantly. He got helpful response, though. "Oh, we removed that feature. It seems you were banned by accident for an hour, but we are not allowed to unban you. Just wait." (or something similar)

I can imagine this feature coming into effect. "Oh, it seems that common portuguese word "magico" is similar to English word "magic", but we are not allowed to unban you because server never bans people wrongly, you must wait a month to be unbanned."

If you want a server in which only people who are not bothered by getting banned occasionally play, you are going a perfect route.

If they were banned, it was because they were spamming (10 lines in 3 seconds). They could be unbaned, but only be a GM or admin, not me (who was the one who responded).

Autobans are always wrong. When I say to a friend that in Polish "ciasto" means pie I will get banned? Quite inefficient

Regards.

still don't know why is this such a big issue... if this continues, the results will harm the game. why are u developing a game then? if its for fun and to play among english speakers only, ban all our IP's and make the game available only by invitation.

Keep up the good work and get rid of rule # 5

...or just be honest and kick all of us out of here since we are such a pain in the 4ss.

Oooo I like that idea. Anyone else interested in implementing this? I could write a python script for this, but we would need bindings for the server.

Hi kr0n05931.
I'm not a programmer, but i wonder if it will be possible to make a script like this.
- First, making the base of the programm , it should be easy.
- Then, copy and paste all the words of the english+american dictionnary. Lots of work, here.
- Conjugate the verbs, with oral forms, times and modes.
- When the programm will be able to recognize a perfect english "speaker" (i should say "writer"), let's implement a SMS dictionary, and frequently used abbreviations.
- Apply it in public places, only on public chat.

Ok, the first part of the "non-english filter" is finished. Let's see if it works ingame with little examples.
Prepare yourself to read this kind of messages in the forum Court House :
* 'I met a friend named "Paf le chien" (just an example) in a public area. I said, in the public chat : "hi Paf le chien" and then, the server banned me.'
->Ok, that's not forbidden to name a character with non English Language (Anyway, names are often invented). So how will you handle it?
*'I said, in the public chat : "Thaks for your help", it was only a typo mistake, and the server banned me!'
->It can happen, even to the best english speaker.

I think -- just tell me if i'm wrong -- that such a filter will be certainly abusive, and it will surely provide more work for GMs to regulate all those unjustified autobans (even if they last a short period). Even with a warning system (you have the right to make more than 3 mistakes).
I'm french (and also, i'm sorry, i didn't choose it), and if I find rule #5 necessairy IN PUBLIC PLACES (we need to communicate, and english is easier to learn than chinese), i don't agree with this kind of liberticidal filters (I'm not talking of spam filter, of course).

Like Platyna said :

:P What about putting spywares on non-english computers to know exactly when they are connecting to the game, what they are doing in it, and if they are speaking a forbidden language?

II thought about a-b-c-d test.......

You are English speaker:
A-Yes, British (skips the test), B-Yes, American or other "natural" English (has 1 more question), C-Yes, non-natural speaker (has whole test) D-??? (instant ban).

If we pass whole test (C) then we get 1000,000,000 XP at beginning and get (all items)*2 in inventory. Maybe more 100k GP :P Sounds good for me.

Um...why does that matter?

At least in USA English is not official language, which means you can speak any other language and you don't have to speak English at all. In Canada there are places where French is spoken, so English isn't necessary. I think in Australia English is official, but I'm not sure.

Still I think internet would be impossible to me without knowing English, but not all people are smart as I am  . Muhahahaha

EDIT: Sorry if this is little offtopic, but I had to answer.

What does that have to do with needing another question?

Many US States have English as the (or an) official language.
