Better High-res Mini maps?

Hello,

Currently tmw has very small mini maps looking at them make my eyes hurt. Please can we have a little bit bigger high-res mini maps? It will rise the game play value by leaps and I am also sure its not that difficult!!!

Or maybe an overlay option. Hold down M or something, and a transparent full-screen map pops up with pixel enemies, etc.

Overlay could also be done or like the map is a bit zoomed in, still in the same size as it is now but shows less area and is bigger for ease of seeing. Its up to devs how they do it. but I am sure its not that difficult.

It could be better if we have the minimap that exists, and a new icon to show the full map of themanaworld with zoom in and zoom out.

Keep in mind that minimaps are meant as a navigation help, not as a guide which shows you what is where. They are supposed to be vague to avoid spoiling the world exploring.

Hi black,

Indeed, the minimap display is something considered flaky, but us, (the poor time-lacking developers.) couldn't get to the point where we agree to how improve it.

I'd be glad if someone proposed a nice improvement, agreed by the majority.

Remember, there is already issues about this in our tracker here, where you could find useful thought (or not):

Clients 0.0.29 and above support different sizes for the minimaps in the window. If someone wants to make larger ones for them, they could be distributed in custom data zips.

I can make larger maps but this mantis issue: http://mantis.themanaworld.org/view.php?id=373 was submitted on 2008-07-22, its been more than an year and its still their, even though its assigned to a dev. I dont think its that difficult, could you please reassign it to some active and happy dev?

and can some one guide me to do high res minimaps? I think if there's some option do disable rendering trees etc, only buildings and terrains then I visit places and take screenshots and stich them together and then grayscale or maybe not grayscale them, This will give us gigantic minimaps, we will keep full-res ones as backup and will give some what smaller mini-maps out (still pretty larger than current ones).

...or you could just open the map file in Tiled (our map editor) and use the "Save as Image" feature.

Thankyou very much, I never knew we use tiled. :)

Here are two images, first attempt, please give me feedback, I really want this to get done!

Edit: I excluded the trees here, they could be added and the res is very high it could also be lowered since they are mini-maps :)

Unfortunately, just hiding that layer makes the map rather hard to use.

You mean hiding trees layer? Just ask and I will upload maps with them.
