Got something on your mind about the project? This is the correct place for that.

better drop item claim system

Post by Rosh »

When more than one person kill a monster, the player, who made the greatest damage, gets the loot and all other players have to wait a few time to be able to pic it up. But a player, who dealed allmost as much damage as the best one, has to wait as long as spectators have to.

So my suggestion is to the let best one be able to pic up the loot instantly and all helping fighters (or the next best, lets say... 5 helpers) do only have to wait 100%-$their_percentage_of_the_over_all_damage of the usal time untill they can pic up the loot.
If for example a player made 20% of the total damage, he only has to wait 80% of the usal time.

The resault is, that helpers have an advantage to the ones, who did not do anything, but the best player has still min. 50% of the usal time to pic up the loot. :D

The current system:
  • For the first 15 seconds, the character who did the most damage has exclusive rights to the item
  • For the next 10 seconds, the character who did the second most damage is then also allowed to pickup the item
  • For the next 5 seconds, the character who did the third most damage then also allowed to pickup the item
  • For the next 90 seconds, anyone can pickup the item
  • The item then disappears from the floor
Relying less on absolutes might be nice. Not sure how eAthena stores the combat info, though.

Why not make it so that the person that actually killed the monster gets first chance at picking up the drop.

Because then I can run around and wait until you've almost killed whatever monster it is you're attacking, swoop in, get the killing blow and take the item that drops. Also consider the Jacko/skull caves. Imaging battling and doing most of the damage, only to be prevented from collecting the drop because someone else got the last hit. It's be easy to grief and a lot of people would be pissed.
