One new tile contribution (Desert, tent)

Post by Reaktor »

I made this last week, but forgot to post here.

http://www.tamk.fi/~c4jlepol/tent.png

This image contains two small desert-tiles to give variation for mapping (I'm annoyed with desert which seems to be looping) and one big tile which represents simple tent.

These tiles are free for any use / postediting. I was just more like playing around with Gimp, since I'm not particulary familiar with this editor yet. Took quite some time to finish the shading, and I guess that someone else could have made it better... and still can, so if you feel that You could make this better, feel free to, don't blame me for doing terrible job ;)

Oh, and sorry for the big layout. Didn't find out how to crop this image yet, since Gimp doens't let me to choose transparent areas with crop tool! o_O

Reaktor: You can either crop the whole image or the layer.
That'll work always. And selecting transparent areas should
be possible... Just try to select nothing (Strg+Shift+A) Then use
selection tool. (R) And also make sure you have no floating layers.
Those could be the problem.
Good luck :)

It's a good start.
I think it could use a bit more worn look. The folds a bit lighter and lower saturated. And maybe some small scratches over the whole tent.
Also I think the shading should be harder to give the whole thing a bit more depth.

But it looks promising.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

I was thinking of something similar to the sand texture in half-life I'd paste a ss but I don't have it installed.
