Archers - what skill do you prefer to use?

Post by Dyna »

Am trying to figure out which is better between the Mallard and the Speed. Today I was shown what the Speed skill can do and it is pretty much at level 9 about a 1.5x the amount of arrows shot (IE if an archer with Mallard shot 2 arrows, an archer with the Speed shot 3). I am not sure if this is actually what is happening but it sure looks that way to me.

The extra range is nice from the Mallard and I think someone mentioned that it gives you an accuracy boost but not sure if thats it?

The extra attack speed is of course helpful and the added movement speed is icing in the cake.

Which do you prefer to use and why?
Wishing things were different...hoping for better now.

i prefer the speed skill when i'm trying to level a higher level character. At lower levels the extra distance and accuracy of Mallet's Eye is beneficial

Doesn't being able to hit from a much greater distance mean you needn't run as much? Also I'm not convinced that sending more arrows at a target is all that helpful if half of them miss.

if you are in the gy 99.99% of your arrows hit, if you have 90-99 dex, so missing isnt a big deal. And any other monster is almost a sure thing. Skulls get hit about 3/5 times with max dex with armor mods

I prefer mallard...the extra range allows me to avoid most injury in maps where there is room to maneuver. Speed does have its benefit especially when dealing a fast moving for like the fallen. But is mallard for me...in a team that is 90% speed archers i am the real odd man out. Then again i am running around shooting when they are on the way back from the save point:)

I prefer Mallards since my vitality and luck are low, I cant really risk getting a crit hit....

There is nothing more beautiful than running with an agi 99 and a speed skill

Walking in diagonal, i love it

If you are not so good with the arc, use mallards, if you are a pro, USE SPEED :D

I had mallards eye first. the wider range is nice and that you won't miss a lot anymore is really nice.
But I must say that now, with speed (thanks Nard!) I have much better game experience.
When you set your stats right you will destroy everything so fast (but skulls). Only disadvantage, without speedskill but high stats on agi the skeletons and zombies can't walk towards you, with the speed skill added they "unfreeze". other than that, love it.

cheers

Speed skill, but with some luck (just in case zombies get to close and hit me hard). I don't think extra range from Mallard's eye is as worth as fast walking or speed when attack.

But that's my opinion. If someone finds Mallard's eye better, who am I to judge his/her choice? 8)
