A reset option would be 'lame'.
Just start a new character.
Just start a new character.

Just an example...
A player has worked a character to a fighter.
STR 98
VIT 58
INT 8
WIZ 8
Swordskills 60
Now he resets his stats and all of a sudden becomes a mage...
STR 8
VIT 8
INT 128
WIZ 28
Protective magic skills 40
Offensive magic skills 20
The protective skills allow him to just leave his vitality at the start value because it reflects all damage from monsters his level. The attack skills allow him to leave strenght at the start value because he can deal enough damage with them.
If he'd start a new character this would never have been possible because he'd die without the magic... if he wouldn't keep killing just maggots.
Besides it's no fun to become a character in an instant, the way towards it is what makes the game fun. You don't develop a character in 20 seconds.
Also I don't think it fits in the world. It kills the roleplay value. It's just wrong.
On top of that or skill system will change. I understand it will not involve points that are directly devided by the player but experience in different fields that is gained through practicing those fields. So no slicing rats for extra magic power. In this system a reset function would be impossible.

I disagree. I think if a mage spends all of his life playing with Fire, he should be weak against ice and clumsy when handling it until he gains some experience the hard way: leveling.maci wrote:swordman and mage are way to different, i agree
but what about a one hand sword and one hand shield swordsman
and a 2 hands swordsman
that kind of respec should exist
just like a respect from fire mage to ice mage
The same should happen if you spend lots of time training with a Sword+Shield, or a Bow, or whatever.
To see my point, switch your keyboard layout to anything else but what you already have, and start typing something .
Code: Select all
System.out.println("Java Developer");
echo 'Powered by Debian GNU/Linux'
I meant just under pre-alpha. Not under the main release.
And i meant a one time reset if you suddenly see that you have screwed up your stats and want to use swords instead of bows. Dont really matter under this stage of the development of the game. These character wont stay when future versions will be released i think, or the beta/release version. Or will they? And mages dont what i know exist yet, at least not live.
Why make a new char? just to try a swordsman? its just lame grinding up to a decent lvl around 40+. For what reason? there is not that much items or mobs.
cya ingame sometime

You mean if it were as if you'd create a new character with the same name?Platyna wrote:It only makes sense if all your stats, level and items would be reseted. Otherwise it is an open gate for abuse.

The server is up mostly to test the client more than to have fun, creating the script and what else will require time we could spend on something else, since probably all the characters will be wiped out there's no need for an effort in changing them. If you're willing to experience other players and has got spare time you can still set up a local server and check out yourself.freizo wrote:I meant just under pre-alpha. Not under the main release.
