Well not all of this changed... Same mobs, same sand, same character sprite, same fence, same rock... :P

So what is the problem with that? Shadow on player is natural thing. When you are under the tree you are in shadow area.

BTW Len, your help is most welcome (wanted) here :)
Agreed to all of this. In fact the lack of shadows that are actually cast onto the player had kinda bugged me.

Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. Has anybody seen this princess I'm looking for?

Not only that, without shadows things tend to feel less like they are apart of that environment.

Hi Len. While your artwork is certainly great, the transmissions from horizontal tile edge to edge at the cliffs really need some work. It's just too obvious where one tile stops and another tile starts.

You should know that my "ways" don't apply to art contributions. Great pixel art is the last thing that keeps me checking out this forums every day :) And your art certainly belongs to that category.

Still has a lot of issues (namely the ones Crush pointed out), and I'm going to rework the sand path tiles.

That is a damn good tileset Len, thanks a lot!

Now, here are the things that still need quite some work:
  • The sand.
  • The cliffs, especially what Crush told us about.
  • The shadows of the fringe tiles, this includes the other tilesets with other fringe tiles (trees, flags, etc...)
  • The rock colors that need to fit the cliffs well.
Keep it up!
Ali.

I like the duller sand and we could go with that color instead, if desired.
Current character is "Abolish".

All of this seems really great Len!
Well the only things that still need some work are the rock parts (small rocks & well). I'm also looking forward to the shadows.
Note that this applies to the four other tilesets (x2 -> x5) since they need some shadows and some work on the rock parts.

Best regards,
Ali.

I don't think the rocks are all that far off (at least not to me)

Also can you direct me to some info on shadow layers, I'm having some difficulty resolving a few issues.(Btw the issues are not the white artifacts or the zero opacity)

Well about the shadows, I don't think the cliffs actually need some, it would be rather complicated to add them imo. I was thinking about the shadows of the x2 to x5 tiles and also the shadows of the well, the barrel, etc...

Here is something that should be improved about the cliffs. You can clearly see the different tiles used.

Drop shadows are overrated.

They are annoying to map, clash with complex map geometry, and most objects look well enough without.
