It has been answered tons of times before... the [ Search ] button does not hurt

. And neither does reading the NPC's text. "The information is out there".

Sell your soul, get cool skills, but your character will not survive a server upgrade, for sure.
Keep your soul, no skills, your char may remain after upgrading. Then again, it may not.

Actually the soul trader tell you there is a very, very small possibility your character (with soul) will be transferred to a new server anyway.
Anyway I wouldn't recommend you to sell soul, you will be bored with the game very soon if you do so.
