[REQ] Egyptian Npc/Monsters

Post by Chicka-Maria »

This would be a big, ongoing and time consuming project but im willing to spend most of my time working on this when im not busy working. Ive been planning this area in my head now and would like to finally make something out of it.

I would like to use the pyramids made and posted in the mana world forums and possible this temple: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2377 if someone is willing to help fix it up.

This new area would be in the desert (past where the construction guys are near Tulimshar) and compatible for levels about 60-70+. It would be Egyptian themed with pyramids, snakes, possible the beetle monster I think I seen in the forum somewhere, bees, etc. We can even have a couple more monsters if possible such as mummy's, skeletons (which we already have). This may allow us to have a chance to use the snake lord (if someone is willing to make an image of it)...or who knows it can be invisible >_> I was thinking this could be a way to bring in the snake skin armor ( http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... =8&t=15988 ) as well.

Theres a lot of useful stuff in this forum and id hate to see it go to waste: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 7&start=45 for a theme like this.

Also need reviewing on the structure len made below. and some of the stuff updated in this unused thread:

http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... &start=285

Lens Piller: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... ilit=saphy

Most of the wall tiles i want to use are in this thread on this page: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... &start=210

Note: the piller will be outside of the pyramid with the sand, while the other tiles will be inside the pyramids. But of course after a review and possibly a few adjustments. Just want to be sure before I start mapping even though I already have blue prints.

Do the pyramid tiles scale? I mean is it possible to create pyramids of varying height from it? I am asking because on the tileset it looks quite tiny.

Ive tried it on tiled and im afraid it doesnt scale well... I cant find a way to scale it without ruining the pyramid.

I think it would look nice scaled, but I don't think that can happen without ruining it. Unless I can get some help on the art of making it bigger which would be a huge convenience considering there are different sizes in pyramids out in the world.

This is what the pyramid compares with the human sprite and one of the monsters :p

Found something I can probably use for an npc, varuna made it a while ago. ill attach it but it can be found here as well : http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... pt#p116861

Also is this ok to use as well? : http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... tle#p31788

(Huh, I thought I posted this before)

That pyramid is really offensive to the eye. AFAICT it is technically within the perspective guidelines, but it just looks wrong.

Maybe it would be better to have a 45° rotated tileset, or even some lesser rotation.

I'm not sure if this would still be applicable if the size of the pyramid approached or exceeded the size of the screen.

Yeah just i like the color to it cause it looks a bit old and sandy. Though it is fantasy, the pyramids dont have to be huge or screen sized. But the inside will be a bit big. I wanted at least 3-4 different pyramids able to walk into and others just for show.

In the process of writing quests, In the meanwhile if anybody has spare time it would be great if i can get some Egyptian or desert like NPCs Or even a few generic items.

Heres an idea of what would be needed

NPC:

- a Pharaoh and his queen.
- Desert peasants and general NPCs
- Desert Archer (maybe holding up a black scorpion in his hand and a desert bow in the other hand?)
- Black Market NPCs
- Desert Blacksmith
- Pharaohs servants

Items:

- Bones
- Egyptian golden tablet
- Beetle wings (or 1 wing)
- Jug of beer (sort of like the one on Aurons belt from final fantasy x or something similar)
- Food Items (maybe a loaf of bread, cheese, grapes, etc)
- Desert cloths/rags

Thanks to whoever helps! It would save a lot of time :)

Yeah but the indoor tile sets are suppose to be used for indoors of the pyramid. :P the whole point of this desert area is ancient Egypt semi-themed. Perhaps someone can fix the image without making the pyramid smaller than it is.

The mouboo sphinx is a cute idea. Do the pyramid tiles scale? Already an idea how you will do the entrance?
