Boring and long way to get GP in TMW.

Post by shargom »

1. Get a decent weapon such as scythe and store it to the bank. Log out and switch character. I suggest using ManaPlus - it has option to switch character without closing the client.
2. Create a character, with a following build: Agility - 9, Vitality - 9, Dexterity - 9. When Sorfina ask you a question, select "No, thanks. I already know how things are going.", and on the next one "Yeah, but thanks for the offer. Bye." It'll save your time from doing newbie quests in that area.
3. Go to Tulimshar, and take scythe from the bank.
4. Talk at Aidan and register yourself, so you can gather monster points. Raise your character up to level 12 in Tulimshar Desert.
Use the technique "hit and run" to avoid getting damage from monsters. Add one point to Agility and Vitality, rest of points spend only on Dexterity. Talk to Ishi to exchange monster points for items, sell most common ones, to get 250GP so you'll be able to travel to Hurnscald.
5. Travel to hurnscald, and go to bat's cave.
6. Raise your character up to level 20 by killing bats. Collect their drops. Average you'll have around 50 bat wings when you'll get to level 20. Do the Arkim's Bat Wings Quest, go to Hurnscald and store bat wings, Scythe and money in bank.
7. Create next character and follow the steps above.
8. Relog every 24h with each character, and do Arkim's Bat Wings Quest, gaining 3k.

It's really boring method, wastes a lot of time. It'll take average 1 hour to get to level 20. For 9 characters, you'll be getting around 27000 GP daily. It's around 810 000 GP per month of playing. Of course if you'll get enough bat wings (135 per every 24h!) and "iron will". :) I think it's not a problem, because it's a very common drop and bats are spawning really fast.
If you like, you can register multiple accounts (there isn't rule against it, maybe it's time to add one?) and waste time on leveling up more characters, but I bet that you'll be really bored after leveling up third character on your first account... or not, if you will try another setup, mentioned in my later post: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 59#p130159

Tl;dr This method is a real waste of time, but it's one of many ways to get not so big amount of GP in relatively short time-span, especially useful for new players.

Such a rule wouldn't be enforceable. You could check the IP addresses to detect when two accounts are frequently accessed from the same household, but that could just mean that there are multiple people in that household who play TMW.
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

Well, you're right.
I just wanted to point out that there's an easy way to get a nice amount of GP without really getting into a gameplay, which was probably known to many players since release of this quest.
I've created three characters, spent about 3-4 hours on leveling all of them. Currently I stored in bank 144 bat wings. If I'd create 6 more characters, after six days I'll have 86400GP on my account, doing only this quest, day by day. Most "boring" part is to raise character up to level 20...
If there is possibility to check amount of certain item on the server, you'd find if Arkim's bat wing quest is being used to gain large amounts of GP or not.

I use this method, getting a decent weapon from storage from my main:
Use agility, dexerity, and strength at beginning
Die-grind, you get half health quickly(go outside town, kill as many as you can, die, you now have half hp)
Put all points into dexterity when you level(dex gives speed, damage, and accuracy)

I get to level 20 in Tulimshar desert in about 30 minutes, then do quests in Tulimshar. Complete those and quickly find your way to 30 in no time. Get a higher level by killing the mobs inside the miner cave, where you can collect iron ore and keys for later.

If you have the items for the other quests, you can get much higher level in less time.

I don't like letting go of all my secrets, but Arkim's bat wings are my favourite daily points to do too, because you get wings so fast. If you use your highest level character to do the hunting of quest items, you can go well over level 20 with your newly created alt, without ever touching a monster. I trade bat wings from 1 alt to another to cash in once I know I have more than enough. The more characters you have, the more GP you can get. If you want more GP after that, there is always red slimes or hunting for other things and selling on ManaMarket. I DO have to agree though. This is very monotonous and takes up a lot of time. I like to use potions and water and other heal stuff can cost a lot. Helping out with the Cindy quest helps a whole whack! I really do wish there were a faster way though, because it does cost a lot just to keep fighting sometimes, let alone buy something rare, and mon o man. putting a gem in a ring is really rediculous. 250k to remove and 500k to put in would still be costly, but wouldn't make you hate the task.

One other thing... The Casino. Lord, please bring back selling tokens via NPC and could the games become more interactive. This place could be quite a hangout if done right, not to mention.. the overall loss of player GP would be more than the overall winnings. That would also make rare and exotic items closer to affordability to the very lucky few and could help get rid of that over abundant amount of GP that other players have, while trying to attain these riches.

I'm begging that the slots get fixed. Real life slots are bad enough... the one's in Tulimshar are positively, ruthless.

I tried another setup: char stats: vit 9 luck 9, dex 9 (raised only dex). Stored scythe, short bow and arrows (normal, 1370) at the bank. Killed few maggots with scythe, so I could equip the bow, then for next 14 minutes I killed mobs at Tulimshar Desert. At bat's cave it took me 22 minutes to raise my char up to level 20. After completing Arkim's Bat Wing Quest, 500 iron arrows and 76 bat wings were left in my inventory. I believe, that with forest bow , iron or terranite arrows and concentration potions it's possible to level up a character much faster, haven't tried it. Considering that every 24h you get 3000 GP, it's an easy method to get money for new players, and don't ruin economy so much like stated above.
