i have idea about pets. What about a "maggot-pet"? all we need is an item, something like a cage trap and bait (it can be an apple). Maggot will be attracted to trap and catched inside it. then u will get it out and raise it, feeding it and when it will grow up it can have some special option, for example you could ride it (or use for deffence/attack) like sandworm in dune...

We have plans to write a petsystem and have pet minigames, petshops, tamer skills and mounts. But I don't think it's got a high priority.
I was thinking about different types of pets.
Normal/animal pets, summoned pets and maybe mechanical pets.
Normal/animal pets are creatures that are catched and can be trained. They need food, can grow and if they are hurt they can eather be healed by magic or with healing items.
Summoned pets are pets like elementals and undead. A water elemental is cast once and has a mana upkeep. It can be healed/restored with magic.
Maybe there could be an exception for zombies and the like. The can be summoned from a corpse, but they need food to survive, corpses or brains preferably. They cannot grow and cannot be teached anything, all summoned creatures are under your command because you summoned them. Maybe some might revolt though.
And maybe we'll have mechanical pets as well. They can be bought or built. They need fuel/mana to be sustained. If they are damaged they can be repaired.
Any pet of these three types may be attackers, supporters, transports or any combination of those three. Attackers can help the player during combat by dealing damage to his foes in any way. Supporters may have the ability to heal or any other non-offensive skill/magic or they can carry lots of stuff. Transports can be riden to reach a certain destination quicker , safer... or it gives the ability to reach it in the first place, certain islands that can only reached with amphibious or flying pets.

i like the idea of pets if we are going to have the whole stamina levels. but make sure that the pets are a task to catch and maybe even raise (again going back to FF) but dont just make it hey got one ride it and its gone type thing. and maybe even have skills devoted to hunting/taming animals
and you might wait for quite a long time, because such gimmicks are very unlikely to be implemented before the core components of the game are finished.
