It all went to crap when the isthmus was removed. Tulimshar always sucked... it was everyone's goal to get the hell out of there and off to greener pastures, but still come back to the desert to kill snakes and level because not much else was going on in the woodland at the time and it was a fun mid-level chase through the isthmus of death to get to one area or the other, and it didn't cost you anything to do so. As soon as there was slightly more to do in the woodlands, there was little reason to go back... but that's about to change.

Yeah. Now places like GY are far more interesting places for high-levels. Though new maps I've seen on test server can possibly change this a bit.Fother wrote:As soon as there was slightly more to do in the woodlands, there was little reason to go back... but that's about to change.

It's dying slowly. 4-6 years ago there was a whole lot more players. I hate to see TMW dying
Now I'm constantly getting people to play. I really miss TMW and the old days.
I'll play more but RIP all my friends that quit

It began to die when you had to stack instead of playing.
It died a little more when magic ruined PVP
Balancing the economy ruined the trading portion that remained
Stacking is not more fun than freestyle playing
Anyone can make a game, people decide if it is FUN.

TMW is alive and doing just fine.
The secret to getting all the important stuff done is doing nothing.

Well I put some of the Good Old days back into the game. With more planned. Just keep checking back. Eventually we will get you hooked again.

I agree with the idea of a democracy not being the best way to rule. Ultimately, we need to recognise that our best intents and interests are always at the mercy of those who have the ability to pull the switch. Even this thread exists based on that.
This in no way undermines that people's input is important. Ultimately though, if it was for instance "MY" game on my server, and I had enough, I'd pull the pin and nothing matters if I'm not legally obliged to give "what the people want". Therefore, that fact needs to be acknowledged, and accepted.
Good people have come, and good people have gone. Fact. Whether due to life's circumstances, or game issues, the choice will eventually come to all of us. When it becomes too much we will go. This is the part on the relativity scale of "it's just a game". For a gamer, or a person fully involved in this game, or gaming in general, gaming may be their life. Then "it's just a game" might not be appropriate as they have nothing else, or even that this means a lot more to them than a game, but sorry...for my part, it IS just a game. I'll play it, I'll be involved where I can with what I think is right, but I'll also leave when/if it isn't meeting the needs or expectations consistently with what I have, or something is wrong in my perspective. Two-edged sword.
Unfortunately, as much as The Mana World is a great escape to a fantasy world in a sense, it isn't paradise. Also, on top of that, even Paradise has a ruler which isn't based on a democracy. I guess that's why the rules are the rules.
