Feel free to voice your thoughts and concerns on this thread. We will try to answer them as best we can. You can also join #evol-dev or #themanaworld-dev on freenode and ask questions.
We will meet again on August 4th 20:00 UTC to present the final proposal for joining the 2 projects.
The secret to getting all the important stuff done is doing nothing.
No worries. Even if we merged, it will take months before it finally appears on the live. It will appear on the test server and be announced for testing there before it touches the TMW live server.

I've not found this covered elsewhere, but is there a plan for character name conflicts? Specifically, I suspect there may be several name conflicts of the same name belonging to different people in each of the two games, but also I know there are at least some names that are used by the same people in both games (myself included).
When the fate of TWM seemed dubious and Evol was being pitched as "the future" I created an Evol account and registered my two main character names primarily to reserve them in case everyone went there. But as these are completely separate accounts, there's no way for the dev team or any automated process to know that Amarynthus on TWM is used by the same person as Amarynthus on Evol.

If TMW didn't much change this, there should be a way to compare if 2 accounts of tmw/evol are from the same person or not, thus we could merge same accounts altogether.
For chars, it has yet to be decided how to handle the merge, a suffix/prefix for duplicated could be used. I believe this point is open to discussion.

i have a solution for the chars and accounts
During the first months put a window before the login screen asking for the e-mail then another asking: "Do you want to merge TMW and Evol?" if yes and if the number of char surpass the slots available then put a screen with the name of chars with a check box so that the player can choose the chars that he wants, if no the player should choose what account do he wish to maintain.
I hope that i lose no items. Anyway, there's no trouble with accounts for me, as me Evol and TMW accounts have different names and i deleted the name-sharing characters.
August 4th 20:00 UTC we will meet online to discuss the results of the Fusion.
There has been a poll and many discussions that have happened. There a many more that will need to take place. IMO, the major issues remaining are clear:
Account data
Legacy Server
TMW/Evol Organization
If you would like to add to the list please post here.

It will fail. The points for "fusion" are bogus. Do not let this go forward.
The "community" is a sentimental veil for a distracting, secretive (because it is bogus), and confusion-sowing ambition.
Two games with their own practices are better than one muddy belly-flop.
By hackers for hackers.
The points about moving to more actively developed server software, reproduction of efforts and having more developers are completely legit.
Whether or not the merger will result in a better game however remains to be seen.
