Concept Art Request: Woodland Houses Interior

Post by Crush »

This topic is mostly directed towards Xephys and Orien, but contributions by others are of course appreciated, too.

I want to start with the indoor tilesets for the woodland village soon and i could need some concept drawings for this. What is most interesting for me is the design of the walls and floors. But some furniture ideas would be nice, too.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, I'm back and I'll do something for you. Orien will be very busy and might not be able to continue with the work, but we will see.

Okay, this is just one thing to show the floor and wall ideas (There is a heating fireplace thingy) I tried to make the things easy to map because you already made the barrels the stones for the chimney and the wood. The pillars are a kind of a semi-circle from the top, so they are round, but not too round. Please comment and leave any questions here.

Where do you see open fire? :?

The rock thing on the right is the fireplace thing where you put the wood in and light it, its all enclosed.

In my mind, the trouble in making a woodland house interior is color. This concept art appears to have wooden walls and floors, which may not provide enough color contrast. We could of course use very different wood colors, like a dark wood for the walls and a light ash color for the floor. Or we could use wood just for one or the other..

Xephys: Maybe you could color your concept image to show us what you have in mind.

i think that floor should be made from stone tiles for better contrast with wooden walls... also room should contain some furniture and shelves

Yes Crush, maybe those are not a good idea :?

I'll be coming up with something improved. And I don't do colour.

About the indoor of the house :

Image

- chimney is best at the north of the house (easy to draw and it's better decorative in front)
- a very big fireplace is important
- always a pot on the fireplace
- one room by stage, usually many stages are for very big house
- house with one stage or with two stages, more is for building...
- not many cupboard or dresser in farms.
- people of forest will be good in working wood so they have barrels, cases and no drawing on walls or carpets on the floor (no field of cotton or sheep in woods) they should use furs for bed.
- for a hunter house, animal head on the wall and weapons put near the fire-place.

All the wood and floor in wood, with variation of color.
The shadow for indoor is very good to use.

I think it's important to do a big difference with poor farms and rich big houses of important man of the village.

I can do better drawings if it's necessary ? (not in pixart i'm too slow an not so couragous) Working on the colors if you want ?
