Which graphic style?
Hm, of course, the higher res versions would look much better, but then still not only the chars but also the tilesets have to be changed, right?
Personnally, I think the taller ones look quite neat, but this should become rather like Legend of Mana, and... uhh... let me think... the name of this project was MANAWORLD, huh?
Guess it would rather fit to use those little oldschool chars. My opinion.

I'm all for high-res images but more important is we need to stick with one of the other.
Remember if we change from 16x16 to 32x32 or low to high, or whatever we will not only have to change the Tiles but also the character sprites, game icons, GUI, etc.
I don't mind either way, but we do need to make a decision and stick with it. Are we looking for a game that looks like RO or SNES-style?

It's not my fault I'm new here!

The GUI is already high res, both the current one and the one you're designing. I don't think the icons actually need any bigger, although they could be.
We seem to be going for high res SNES style, not introducing a 3D world as in RO but still creating a modern game that you don't need a history of playing SNES RPGs for to enjoy.

SOM with Hi-RES
I think that 2d SOM world with Hi - Res graphis should be very good for a good game.
16x16 it's too small, we will have to play in 640x480 resolution.
But I think that RO characters graphics are good too ;-0
And we have to allow equip exchange in characters as in UO. I really hate use a Full plate in RO and seems that I'm wearing only clothers

I agree!!!!Neko-Mon wrote:Yes sir!Elven Programmer wrote:As I said the tile size was already decided, so it will be 16x16 until EVERYONE wants to change it. Anyway I was thinking that could be woth, in term of fps), to preload all the tiles double sized. This will mean that we won't have any filtering such as 2xSai or Supereagle, but will also mean a great increase in fps. And we can also consider to add a post-processing engine as AA to smooth the image if you have a lot of horsepower.
