desert

Post by VxD »

I have began something for add life and background for the desert (I have choose to work on the desert because it's the first environment seen by the new player and it's important to improve this part for give them the desire to continue to play) in relation with the people red than I have begin to create.

Inspired by the works of "i" for the desert tiles,
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopic.php?t=1654

http://img276.imageshack.us/img276/586/ ... er22lt.png
(and an other post where there are a more recent version than I don't find now, anyway, I will follow this style who is the best for the desert actually)
I continue in the same time (its will be linked with the town) the railway in all the directions possible for permit during the mapping differents possibilities.

in this post, I will show the advancement concerning the works in relation with the desert (town, vegetations, animals).

here the first artwork of this city, first idea for the differents way of rail.

I use a transparent ground for adapt the railway on all types of floor. (and if the desert tiles change again in the future)

its really the beginning.

also, for not to be too away of the main dev, I will concentrate my efforts for help crush and work on the desert tiles :

the cliffs (low res and bad tiling behavior)
the building (fine but low res)
the skull (low res)
(the cactus has already been replaced)

that ground texture under the city wall (doesn't fit in stylistical)
(a replacement for the palm tree is in the work by modanung)

then, on the wiki I will take the stalled project of "Dried River Tileset" and add somes features for the deserts, trees/plants, rocks/ruins, isolated farms, skulls :) ..

Could you redirect me on all the post or others in relation with the desert, ideas done.. and others things than I could have not see and I will try to respect and/or take into consideration.
of course I don't take the role of official artist desert, just I awake this, and anyone who want work on can use this post. its the team post work of desert tileset.

Might this(http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/Backstory) be something you are looking for?
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then you swing your +150 axe. Then you win.

I like your idea. Those buildings carved underground give me a lot of related ideas... My theory is that they are built as such to prevent the excessive heat from the desert wind...

We started a wiki article about this town:
http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... n_the_hole
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

The dropshadows are in the wrong direction. When the light comes from southwest, the shadow should be dropped to the northeast, and not southeast.

But otherwise good work.
