movement suggestions

Post by Zero »

dunno wat its called but when u click to move u should be able to just hold the mouse down, instead of having to click again and again and again. another suggestion is in addition to be able to move with arrow keys we should have a choice of moving with wasd.

The mouse thingy is planned and also the ability to map all of the keyboard binds is also planned.

But why WASD?

Either you play with the mouse or with the keyboard. If you play with the keyboard you'd want to use the characters for shortkeys and the arrow keys for moving around.
With a first person shooter it is understandable you'd want to use WASD because you look around with the mouse and don't want your other hand cramped near your right one. Also your left hand has other functions except for walking.

...and what Rotonen said...

WASD keeps my hands apart. Shooter or not, I'd prefer it for comfort....i'd rather walk with my left I guess.

Or......am I missing something?? You have to use the mouse pointer to target don't you?

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

I like to use the keyboard to walk around, and the mouse to attack. Walking with the keyboard is much easier than walking with the mouse, but attacking with the mouse is much more effective since you can attack from a greater distance and monsters jumping due to lag doesn't mean that you are attacking air.

You can use 'a' to target the nearest creature, ctrl to attack it. Or ctrl to attack the creature you're facing and standing next to, using shift+ctrl makes you target that creature as well.

The key a can also be used to shift between targets if pressed repeatedly. Though it's only cowardly archers that use it.

I think our ultimate goal is to be controllable via a gamepad.
