2-handed animation sprites.

Post by deformative »

Well, I think I am going to work on 2-handed animation. Here is the first one, the right arm is a bit too big, but I am too tired to fix it.

Here's the sprite with the correct proportion (no monster hand) as you have requested

Just try to keep it flexible. the animation phases should be useable by as many sequences as possible. Otherwise it will cause problems when designing equipment sprites.

Maybe it would be better to leave the hands together so that the same animation can be used for weapons with shorter handles like two handed swords or axes.

Hmm, but what about staffs and whatnot for spell casting characters? I think they would work using the same attack and stance animation as double bladed weapons.

Before doing an attack animation talk about it in the IRC channel! There is a lot of stuff you need to keep in mind. No time to elaborate atm.

Maybe some encouragement would be good to balance out all the discouraging comments.

Deformative did have a conversation with Rotonen at least about this in IRC before he started pixeling.

Even if I do finish and it is not satisfactory, someone else may be able to get ideas from it.

I'd say this work is pretty good, but before making it useless as Modanung suggested you could ask for directions in #tmwart so to make something we could use with minor modifications.

Deformative was in #tmwart and discussed it with some other people. However, not everyone live in the same time zone if that is what you mean...

We are going to mirror side sprites anyway, as we did for bow there will be some issues with the action arm, but that's unavoidable if we want to keep the number of frames low.
