Chainmail...maybe.

Post by The Judge »

I took the turtleneck sweater that was posted on this forum, grayed it and poked holes. I just did a few, because its rather time consuming to poke all those holes. Am I totally off base? Would it work better if I filled in the holes, with like, a leather-like under type armor? Is it even feasible? I really wouldn't know, I just thought I might try to do something, see if it worked out. Let me know. Thx.

Ok, no more stupid spam. I switched to photobucket.

Great work. I think the transparency is overly detailed and unrealistic though. I did a little edit:
Image
I replaced the holes by dark pixels and increased contrast and shininess to give it a more metallic feel.

It would be great if you could do the whole set like this. :)

It would be nice, if you host your images at service that doesn't put spam instead of them.

Regards.

It should be possible to automatize a common effect like checkboard dithering with most graphic programs. What graphic program are you using?

I'm using Adobe Photoshop, and as for the image hosting problem, I'm up for a change. I'll look to see what other people have been using, I'll edit the post when I get it switched. And yeah, I do like that second set you did Modanung. I'll do that. Thx.

i am not familiar with photoshop but it would really suprise me when there isn't a way to do this automatically.

Maybe there is a filter to do this.

Maybe you can use a checkboard dithering pattern on a layer above it, merge the layers, and remove the pattern with color selection.

Yeah that worked. I made a checkerboard pattern, merged it down and took out half. Cool. So, I'm still working on it, but expect it soon. :)

In my opinion it looks fine so far. How about a female version?

Now you may have lost me. I wouldn't even know how to start to do that. But, I can look into it, see if I can figure it out. Glad the male version seems ok so far.

I do miss the bit of shininess that is in Modanung's version though.

I did that by selectively replacing some bright pixels with white pixels around the camera-left shoulder.

Well, maybe this could be like, Iron Chainmail, and I could color another one golden for golden chainmail, or mythril chainmail or something, and shiny that one up. I'll try to shiny this set up if the genral consensus is that it would look better that way.

Beware, you are suggesting to violate Rotonens "no recoloring" policy.

(No different equipment pieces that are represented by different colored versions of the same graphics)
